CULTURE NIGHT AT ÁRAS AN UACHTARÁIN
A Real Success
The President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, and his wife, Sabina Higgins, once again opened Áras an Uachtaráin to the public on Culture Night, Friday, 20 September, 2019.
The event was also used to also mark the 50th anniversary of Samuel Beckett being awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature, and the 30th anniversary of his death.
As part of the event we were given a tour of the House and treated to a performance of Samuel Beckett's radio play "All that Fall", by Theatre Company, Mouth on Fire.
As an interesting point of note, I attended the same Secondary School as President Higgins, St. Flannans College, which we discussed on the night.
